Luís Alexandre Barbosa is the head partner for the direct taxes and tax practices. His expertise includes international taxation, deals’ structuring, M&A and new business development. He has been practicing with relevant administrative and judicial relevant tax cases. He is a professor at Fundação Instituto de Administração (FIA), an entity associated with the University of São Paulo (USP), in several MBA and other postgraduate programs.
He completed his postgraduate studies in Economics and Business Law at the Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV / EASP), as well as in Tax Law at Pontífica Universidade Católica of São Paulo (PUC / SP).
In 2018, he was recognized by the US publication “Best Lawyers” as one of the most admired tax lawyers in Brazil.
He is currently a member of the fiscal council of Instituto Brasileiro de Executivos de Finanças (IBEF-SP), and is an active member of the Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Tributário (IBDT), having been a member of the FIESP Economics Committee (CEJE / FIESP) and of Instituto dos Advogados de São Paulo.
Luís Alexandre Barbosa has also participated in the legal committees of Associação Brasileira dos Bancos Internacionais – ABBI, Associação Brasileira das Empresas de Leasing – ABEL, Associação Brasileira de Direito de Telecom e TI – ABDI, among others.
He has lectured in various seminars and technical events, and has authored specialized works such as Tax Law in Manual Prático para Gestão Empresarial, being a co-author of Novos Rumos do Processo Tributário, and author of articles in specialized publications and periodicals.
